Since the COVID pandemic hit Israel in early 2020, a total of 834,920 Israelis have contracted the virus, but the number of confirmed cases in Israel has dropped to 4,931, the Health Ministry reported Tuesday evening.

On Tuesday, 29,710 COVID tests identified 189 new carriers, a 0.6% positive rate.
As of Tuesday evening, there were 486 COVID patients hospitalized nationwide, of whom 317 were listed in serious condition, with 169 on ventilators.
Nearly 5.3 million Israelis (56.81% of the population) have received at least the first dose of the COVID vaccine. Over 4.8 million have received both doses.
Israel's COVID death toll stood at 6,257 on Tuesday.
