Knesset Speaker Yariv Levin said on Friday that he will announce the date on which the vote on the new government will take place when parliament next convenes. The announcement is expected on Monday.

The announcement underscored a growing sense of optimism among the so-called "pro-change bloc," headed by Yesh Atid leader Yair Lapid and Yamina chief leader Naftali Bennett, who is slated to be named prime minister, that the ideologically motley coalition aiming to unseat Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is headed for success.
Levin's announcement on Friday afternoon came after concerns were raised that he may try to delay the move. Lapid and Bennett decried the move and called on Levin to convene the Knesset plenum and "enable the formation of a functioning unity government that will extricate us from the chaos."
