According to a statement issued by the Prime Minsiter's Office, Bennett "thanked the Pfizer chief for joining forces with Israel in bringing the vaccine doses to Israel." The statement further said that the two discussed "the strategies for dealing with the virus and with new variants – both present and future – and on the options for supplying Israel with new Pfizer vaccine doses."
Israel has been in talks with various countries over the possibility of swapping doses with close expiration dates with newer doses. The statement on Sunday emphasized that Bennett and Bourla discussed this and that this matter was being coordinated by the Israeli Ministry of Health, the Foreign Ministry and the National Security Council.
Bennett's office said the two will remain in touch to bring more doses together "in order to protect Israelis' health."
