Officials from the Iraqi Ministry of Health and Environment and the Chinese Embassy in Iraq welcomed the arrival of the shipment at the Baghdad International Airport.
A total of 500,000 vaccine doses were handed over to Iraqi authorities at the airport, which is the third batch of COVID-19 vaccines China donated to the country in the last six months.
Ali Al-Baldawi, director general of the State Company for Marketing Drugs and Medical Appliances (Kimadia) under the Iraqi Ministry of Health and Environment, said that Chinese vaccines have been well received in Iraq, noting the country has previously ordered 2 million doses of vaccines from China. The Iraqi Ministry of Health and Environment is negotiating a new contract with Sinopharm for another 12 million doses, he said.
