Antibodies from camels and llamas could be used as a new treatment for patients with COVID-19, according to a new study. The treatment would be injected into patients through a nasal spray.

Published in the academic journal Nature Communications, the study suggests that nanobodies – single domain antibodies derived from llamas and camels – could be used to fight the virus due to the way they bind to and neutralize viral cells.
Further study found that nanobodies were able to fight off the alpha and beta variants of the coronavirus.
Moreover, in Israel, researchers last month indicated that a low-cost generic drug appears to have a strong ability to fight COVID-19.

A research team from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem hypothesized at the start of the pandemic that fenofibrate, a generic low-fat drug, could help patients with COVID-19.
