Bahrain and Israel first agreed to establish diplomatic ties, in addition to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), through the United States-brokered 2020 Abraham Accords.
The agreement led to a series of subsequent normalization deals between Israel and other nations in the region.

A seasoned diplomat, Naeh had previously served as the head of the Israeli missions to the United Arab Emirates and Turkey.
His counterpart, Bahraini Ambassador to Israel Khaled Yousif Al-Jalahma, presented his credentials to President Isaac Herzog in September prior to assuming his post.
The event coincidentally took place during the one-year anniversary of the Abraham Accords.
Jalahma later participated in a series of interviews that same day, in which he promised his country would be a "sincere and strong partner - an active partner - in peace."
On my way to present my letter of credentials. What a wonderful coincidence to have this event mark the first anniversary of the #Abraham_Accords.
I'm so proud that we took this brave step last year to work hand-in-hand towards peace, security and stability in the world.
