Prime Minister Naftali Bennett announced on Wednesday that he has named IDF Brig.-Gen. (ret.) Moshe Edri as the next director-general of the Israel Atomic Energy Commission. Edri, who is expected to take office in July 2022, will replace Ze'ev Snir, who has been at the helm of the IAEC since 2015.

Edri, 59, currently heads the Special Measures Division in the Defense Ministry.
Bennett described Edri as the "right man at the right time. ... His impressive performances, in-depth understanding and willingness to take on any task at the national level left were clear to see during my time as defense minister. He will undoubtedly meet the challenging tasks created by the reality around us in the Middle East."
