Regional Cooperation Minister Esawi Frej (Meretz) was admitted to the intensive care unit at the Sourasky Medical Center – Ichilov Hospital after suffering from a "minor stroke" according to his spokesman.

His spokesman said he remained fully conscious and able to communicate with others. He added that "in such situations, there is always the risk of deterioration and that is why he is hospitalized in a neuro-ICU for observation."
According to the spokesperson, "He is fine, he is able to talk, and his wife is reading text messages he has been getting."
His hospitalization has led to an outpour of online "get-well messages" from lawmakers from both sides of the political divide.
