The Cristilano Group that imports Swarovski products to Israel spoke out against the decision to hire Hadid to represent the brand, saying it "unequivocally renounces" the decision.
Cristilano Group "will not allow Hadid to take part in the advertisement of the brand in Israel, and we are acting quickly to replace her," the importer said.
A second Israeli importer of Swarovski crystals, Yalon, also criticized the move.
"We want to make clear the online reports and calls for a boycott of the brand in Israel are a blow mainly to the local franchisee and the income of many Israeli families," Yalon said.
Swarovski responded to the Israeli criticism in a statement saying: "Since its establishment, the company's DNA is one of peace. Bella Hadid is a fashion icon that has led large campaigns and has left her mark on the industry on the runway and on red carpets. In Swarovski's new campaign, she represents a new and effortless style of self-expression in line with the brand's values.
"Swarovski is an apolitical company and does not make political statements. There is no place for hatred or violence in any aspect of society. Our mission is to make dreams come true while maintaining tolerance, inclusion, and kindness."
