The committee was established with the aim of addressing the situation of Ethiopian soldiers in the IDF in order to best formulate recommendations with regard to their service.
The military has recommended appointing soldiers of Ethiopian origin to core positions; establishing dedicated guidance and mentoring teams in recruitment offices; providing financial assistance in the early stages of the service; and more.
The IDF has already expanded the number of publicity workshops for commanders from 320 to 450 a year.
"The IDF is a central place in the formation of Israeli identity by virtue of [it] being the people's army, which receives the best of Israeli youth, and gives each one of them an equal opportunity to fulfill their potential," the IDF Spokesperson's Unit said in a statement.
We "will continue to work to best utilize human capital within our ranks, including improved integration of Israelis of Ethiopian descent."
