Last week, Israel decided to issue an additional 1,500 work permits.
A message from the Defense Ministry on Saturday said, "The Hamas terrorist organization bears responsibly for everything that happens in the Gaza Strip and [actions] from it against Israel, and will bear the consequences."
One of the rockets was intercepted by aerial defenses and the other fell in an open area, the military said. There were no immediate reports of injuries.
None of the Palestinian terrorist groups in Gaza claimed responsibility for the rocket fire, which triggered sirens in the coastal city of Ashkelon and the surrounding area.
Posting footage from the strike on its Twitter account, the IDF said, "In response to attacks aimed at Israeli civilians, our fighter jets struck one of Hamas' most significant rocket production sites in Gaza. This strike will significantly impede Hamas' force-building capabilities. We will continue to defend Israeli civilians from Hamas' terrorism."
