According to early exit polls on Tuesday, former Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's Likud was expected to command a strong lead in parliament and have the backing of at least 61 members of the Knesset with its right-wing and ultra-Orthodox allies.
"Today the Religious Zionist Party made history with this greatest achievement of such a religious nationalist party since the state's founding," Smotrich said. "This appears to add to the victory that the nationalist camp has obtained. We are now waiting patiently for the returns and God willing we would be able to form a right-wing government that is Jewish and Zionist.
