The military said that the sirens went off in the southern Israeli kibbutz of Nir Am shortly after 3:00 a.m., triggered by the rocket that fell short of crossing into Israeli territory.
Reports from Gaza said that residents took to the streets after the killing of terrorist Abdul Fattah Hussein Khrousheh, demanding the rulers of the strip – the Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad terror groups – respond with rocket fire.
Earlier on Tuesday, the IDF confirmed that it had eliminated Al-Harusha, who had killed two Israelis – brothers Yagel and Hallel Yaniv – in a shooting attack in the Palestinian village of Hawara last week.
Five other terrorists were also killed in the raid, which was conducted in Jenin, a known Islamic stronghold. Two Israeli soldiers were wounded as well and a military drone was shot down during the operations in the area. In the aftermath, the IDF placed security forces on high alert over possible and likely retaliation attempts by Palestinians.
