Ramaswamy said he would "remain supportive of Israel" but rejected the idea of a US strike on Iran, saying he would not "put our own men and women on the line in a war with Iran."

Former Vice President Mike Pence blasted Ramaswamy, saying his announcement "that he will not use military force to defend Israel against Iran demonstrates a profound lack of understanding about defending American interests and our most cherished ally."
Former US Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley said Ramaswamy's position was disqualifying for a presidential candidate.
Responding to the criticism, Ramaswamy said that Pence and Haley had misrepresented his words, calling it "another flagrant distortion by the neocons."
"Watch the actual video. I explicitly state we would fully support Israel, including militarily, but that we should not want US men and women dying in a war between Israel and Iran," he clarified.
