According to reports from Gaza on Monday, the terror organization Hamas is investigating whether Marwan Issa, the deputy of the military wing's commander Mohammed Deif, was eliminated in an Israeli strike.

The report states that Israel attacked a building in the Nuseirat refugee camp, where Issa may have been present. At this stage, there is no official confirmation of the report, neither from the Israeli side nor the Gazan side.

The IDF struck from the air a building in the Nuseirat refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip over the weekend, apparently after receiving intelligence that Issa may have been present there along with his men. The Palestinians reported that five people were killed and nine others were injured in the strike.

Marwan Issa is considered one of the most cruel and dangerous terrorists in the ranks of the Hamas terror organization. Issa, a native of Al-Burayj in the Gaza Strip, joined Hamas at a young age and spent five years in an Israeli prison for terrorist activities. Additionally, he was held in custody by the Palestinian Authority but was released at the start of the Second Intifada.

Before the 2005 Gaza pullout (the Disengagement), Issa was considered by the IDF to be responsible in Hamas for attacking Israeli communities, and he was apparently the first in Hamas to plan complex infiltration operations with the intention of taking over Israelis villages, as seen on Oct. 7.
