Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office has informed the White House it wants to reschedule the meeting on the operation in the southern Gaza city of Rafah, NBC said on Wednesday, citing a US official. This report was quickly denied by Netanyahu's bureau, which said in a statement: "No approval was given to send a delegation for talks in Washington." However, Reuters cited an Israeli official saying the prime minister was indeed considering sending a high level delegations as early as next week.

Earlier on Wednesday, Israel Hayom reported that the White House has turned to Israel with a request to reschedule the trip of Minister Ron Dermer and National Security Advisor Tzachi Hanegbi so they can come and hear the alternatives to action in Rafah, a day after Netanyahu canceled the delegation's trip to Washington in protest of the US abstaining in the anti-Israel UN Security Council vote on Monday.

It seems that the White House is determined to present Israel with alternatives to action in Rafah before it embarks on a broad military operation in the area. Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, who is in Washington in meetings with senior administration officials, but it appears that the US wants to present the alternatives to more officials.  Israeli officials have vowed to press on with an operation into Rafah at some point.
