After saving the world and dying as Iron Man, Robert Downey Jr. is set to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Downey and the Marvel production team revealed the actor will return in two upcoming Avengers movies--'Avengers: Doomsday' and 'Avengers: Secret Wars'--directed by the Russo brothers.

He will play the villain, Doctor Victor von Doom, also known as Doctor Doom.

Downey's new role surprised fans who speculated he would reprise his Iron Man role, as Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige had vowed not to undo Iron Man's death in Avengers: Endgame.

Marvel Studios provided sneak peeks of upcoming films for 2025, including "Captain America: Brave New World," "Thunderbolts," and "The Fantastic Four: First Steps," which will blend comic roots with real-world science in a retrofuturistic 1920s New York setting.

The cast for the MCU reboot of "The Fantastic Four: First Steps" was announced, including Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm. A clip reel showed the team and a glimpse of Galactus.

Anthony Mackie will lead the cast of "Captain America: Brave New World," joined by Harrison Ford, Giancarlo Esposito, Danny Ramirez, and Tim Blake Nelson. The film will focus on the Celestial Tiamut.

Kevin Feige introduced the "Thunderbolts" cast at the Marvel panel, including Sebastian Stan, Florence Pugh, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and David Harbour as Red Guardian. "Thunderbolts" is set for release on May 5, 2025.

A record-setting opening weekend for "Deadpool & Wolverine" has renewed enthusiasm for the MCU, with a lively Deadpool choir opening the Marvel panel, inspired by the record-breaking R-rated film, with characters in red costumes dancing to Madonna's "Like a Prayer" at the event.
