Defense Minister Yoav Gallant stated today (Sunday) during a security briefing that "only a third of short and medium-range missiles remain in Hezbollah's possession."

Gallant, accompanied by Major General Eliezer Toledano, delivered a security briefing to the ministers. Toledano emphasized the shifting landscape in Lebanon, stating, "The current events in Lebanon are altering the country's power dynamics. Previously, we dealt with a leader who controlled an organization and an organization that controlled a country. Now, the leader is gone, and we face a diminished organization."

The briefing highlighted that the IDF's focus extends beyond the immediate border area, addressing threats within Lebanon that aim deep within Israeli territory, particularly the rocket launch capabilities. Ministers in attendance reported that the briefing "clearly indicated that securing the northern border requires a comprehensive approach to neutralize Hezbollah's capabilities, not just along the border itself."

Toledano noted, "In most front-line villages, enemy forces have retreated, resulting in fewer confrontations. However, we still encounter resistance and suffer casualties in certain areas." When ministers who had experience from the 2006 Lebanon War, such as Amihai Eliyahu and Ofir Sofer, drew comparisons, Toledano firmly stated, "This situation bears no resemblance to the 2006 Lebanon War."

Minister Sofer added his perspective: "We're witnessing a smoothly functioning operation that surpasses the 2006 Lebanon War in both logistics and coordination. The IDF maintains full control of the area."
