One of Israel's most prominent political analysts, Amit Segal, is joining Israel Hayom and its new weekend magazine, The New Weekend, which is set to launch next month.
Segal, 43, began his journalistic career in 1998 at the Jerusalem weekly Kol Ha'ir and later became a reporter for Army Radio (Galei Tzahal). In 2006, he joined Channel 2 News. He holds a law degree from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and a master's degree in public policy from University College London.
Omer Lachmanovitch, editor-in-chief of Israel Hayom, said, "I'm very pleased to announce that Amit Segal is joining us. Amit is Israel's most influential journalist, and his partnership with Israel Hayom, a leading media outlet with a sense of national responsibility, is in my view both natural and immensely important.
"Segal's analyses, insights and unique perspectives will be a core element of The New Weekend, a significant new initiative in our digital presence and enhanced print edition, to be launched next month. I wish Amit great success and am confident our many readers will enjoy his contributions to Israel Hayom's writing team."
Amit Segal said: "I'm excited to join Israel Hayom and grateful for the opportunity to take political commentary heigher and deeper, and to analyze the situation in what are expected to be some of the most dramatic years the country has ever known."
