Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu publicly endorsed President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize following the successful negotiation of a Gaza ceasefire agreement, declaring "Give @realDonaldTrump the Nobel Peace Prize – he deserves it!" in a tweet posted Thursday night. Netanyahu also thanked Trump's son in law Jared Kushner and Special Middle East Envoy Steve Witkoff on Friday after meeting with them, saying, "I want to personally thank both of you, Steve, Jared. It's been long hours. You worked around the clock, but not only worked – I think you put in your brains and your hearts. We know that it's for the benefit of Israel and the US, for the benefit of decent people everywhere." He added, "And for the benefit of these families who will finally get to be with their loved ones. And I want to thank you on their behalf, as well as on behalf of the people of Israel. Thank you."

The agreement, finalized in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, promises the release of all Israeli hostages and the withdrawal of Israeli troops to agreed-upon positions, marking a potential end to the two-year conflict that began with the October 7, 2023 Hamas attack.

President Trump announced the breakthrough on Truth Social, calling it "a GREAT Day for the Arab and Muslim World, Israel, all surrounding Nations, and the United States of America," while thanking mediators from Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey for their assistance. Netanyahu responded by calling it "a great day for Israel" and thanking the Israel Defense Forces and the US president for their roles in reaching this historic moment.
