A British home has been quietly arranged for Prince Harry and Meghan – one that carries no royal affiliation, Daily Mail reported. The address is being withheld on security grounds, and the pair will not return as working royals.
The move is expected within two weeks, with Archie and Lilibet due to begin at a British school. Daily Mail described the planned stay as an "extended period," though the permanence of the relocation has not been established – with Montecito and Portuguese properties still in the family's hands.
Prior to their 2020 departure, the couple's British base was Frogmore Cottage – despite living there for less than twelve months, renovations at the Grade-II listed estate totaled £2.4 million. Soho Home furnished the cottage, while structural work included replacing beams and joists, rewiring, new utilities, and £50,000 in soundproofing, Daily Mail reported.
Designer Vicky Charles – associated with both the Beckhams and the Clooneys through Soho House – took charge of the interior, using vegan paint throughout.The late Queen's wedding gift of the property was followed by the Sussexes merging its two semi-detached units into one. The structure's Grade-II listing now complicates efforts to reverse that work, and no construction has been scheduled.
Working royal life ended for the couple in January 2020 as they departed for Montecito. Harry settled the £2.4 million renovation debt six months on; King Charles then evicted the pair from Frogmore in 2023, shortly after Spare appeared in print.
Frogmore was not the Sussexes' only shared UK address. After their 2018 wedding, a two-year lease on a Cotswolds farmhouse near Chipping Norton – valued at £4.12 million on the Great Tew Estate – was signed.
Four bedrooms, a converted barn, an additional two-bedroom cottage, four acres, and a heated patio made up the Westfield Large farmhouse, Daily Mail noted.Their earliest shared home, however, was far more modest. In November 2017, Meghan relocated from Toronto to Nottingham Cottage at Kensington Palace, ending her time on Suits.
A source told UsWeekly, "With Suits over, so is Meghan's life in Toronto." The same source continued, "It's the end of a really precious era, so she's definitely sad to see it come to an end, but she's also really excited about starting a new chapter with Harry."
The 17th-century two-bedroom flat – around 1,300 square feet in total – carried a kitchen with black-and-white tiles and a compact living-dining space, a modest footprint for an address within Kensington Palace. In the Netflix documentary Harry & Meghan, Meghan said, "Kensington Palace sounds very regal, of course it does."
She added, "It says 'palace' in the name. But it was so small." Harry offered his own recollection, saying, "The whole thing's on a slight lean, really low ceilings. I don't know who was there before; they must have been very short."
