Having previously featured in a Marvel-backed superhero production, actress Sydney Sweeney has stepped into another legendary comic book uniform, Comic Book Resources reports. Online platforms erupted after new photographs surfaced showing the performer garbed in traditional Wonder Woman attire, with fans speculating she might take the role that has defined Israeli model Gal Gadot in the DC universe and made her the pride of all Israelis.
Garnering over one million likes in a matter of hours on Instagram, the post was captioned simply with "Camp '26," according to Comic Book Resources. The gallery included video snippets and images from a group summer camp setting, displaying a costume heavily inspired by Lynda Carter's classic television portrayal.
Fans across digital ecosystems quickly amplified the imagery, generating widespread public commentary. One individual posted on X, "I speak for everyone when I say we want Sydney Sweeney as Wonder Woman oh my gawd," Comic Book Resources noted.
Another online contributor wrote, "Okay, Sydney Sweeney as Wonder Woman? DC might've just found their Diana," as cited by Comic Book Resources.

Additional posts emphasized the viral nature of the post, stating, "Sydney Sweeney as Wonder Woman would definitely break the internet," and adding, "Whether she fits the role or not, the casting alone would have everyone debating," Comic Book Resources detailed.
Studio casting directors likely did not bargain for an internet firestorm, yet public speculation surged regardless, Comic Book Resources observed. Although she has no prior official DC credits, Sweeney's superhero experience includes portraying Julia Cornwall's "Spider-Woman" in Sony's critically panned 2024 blockbuster "Madame Web", alongside a minor guest spot on NBC's "Heroes".
Reflecting on the commercial disappointment of "Madame Web", Sweeney told Empire, "I mean, I had a really fun time, so that is all that matters to me," Comic Book Resources stated. She added: "I think that if you are enjoying what you do, it doesn't really matter what the outcome is, on a box office level. Of course, you want the film to be celebrated and loved and successful, because then everyone succeeds."
Her professional docket remains robust following her appearance in HBO's "Euphoria", her lead role in "The Housemaid" with a sequel in development, and Netflix's upcoming "Gundam" feature alongside Noah Centineo and Michael Mando, Comic Book Resources noted. Additionally, she is producing and starring in Josie Rourke's upcoming project "The Custom of the Country".
The official successor to the silver-screen Amazonian hero remains unconfirmed by studio executives, Comic Book Resources concluded.
