British pop star Ed Sheeran's concert in the New York metropolitan area on Friday turned into a political flashpoint that left a number of concertgoers stunned. The controversy began when American rapper Macklemore's opening set at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, veered sharply from music into an overt political demonstration.
Macklemore did not confine himself to the music. The rapper took the massive stage wearing a Palestinian keffiyeh and called out "Free Palestine" to tens of thousands of concertgoers. For Israeli and Jewish members of the audience, however, that was only the beginning.
Imagine paying $500+ to see Ed Sheeran only to be ambushed by Macklemore's relentless anti-Israel obsession.
Yes, the same Macklemore who appeared onstage dressed as an Orthodox Jew, complete with an enormous prosthetic nose.
Fans deserve apologies and refunds.

Genocide accusations in front of children
During the performance, Macklemore performed his pro-Palestinian protest song "Hind's Hall," whose lyrics attack Zionism and accuse Israel and its supporters of oppression and violence. The song also invokes allegations of "genocide" in Gaza, as Macklemore energized parts of the stadium crowd, drawing cheers from some of those in attendance.
The audience included numerous Israeli and Jewish fans, among them families who had brought young children to what they expected would be an ordinary pop concert. Those in attendance described feelings of profound shock and hurt as what was supposed to be an enjoyable family outing turned, in their eyes, into a hostile and disturbing political spectacle from which there was little escape.
