A widely circulated online video captured several Indian men persistently demanding a selfie from an Israeli woman, while ignoring her constant rejections, according to a report by Times Now, a local Indian outlet. The footage of the occurrence, which took place in the city of Pushkar in the state of Rajasthan, has drawn significant condemnation and caused national alarm regarding tourist safety. The Rajasthan police department subsequently announced an investigation and put a video announcing the detention of four people in connection with the incident, which is from October 2022 but only became viral this month.
According to the police video, "police took immediate cognizance of the video, identified the location as the Kishangarh dumping yard," referring to a citi in the Amjer district of Rajasthan. The men are Mohammad Furqan, Mohammad Anees, Farhan (no last name given), and Akhtar Ali. All are in their twenties.
"The suspects confessed to the offense and stated they would not repeat the behavior. An official case is being registered, and further legal proceedings are underway," the police officer said in the video. "After admitting it, they also stated that they would not commit such a mistake in the future. A case is being registered in this matter, and further action is underway."
The affected traveler filmed the encounter, documenting a group of men closely surrounding her as they repeatedly sought photographs. Despite her visible frustration and continuous requests for them to depart, the men refused to comply. At one point during the recording, an individual in the group instructed his companion to inquire if she intended to demand payment for the pictures.
Following the clip's widespread distribution, social media users expressed severe backlash and tagged regional authorities to push for penal measures. Many commentators characterized the event as "embarrassing" and "shameful," according to Times Now.

The upload garnered massive online traction. Online commentators voiced their dismay, with one user stating, "Give punishment so that no one can do such things," and another person writing, "This is just embarrassing, on so many levels," as Times Now reported.
A different individual remarked, "How come such things happen in India so much? Why are we not taking such behavior seriously and coming up with stricter punishments for such people," while another added, "These people are doing more harm to the Indian tourism industry than the average person's lack of civic sense. They completely lack basic decency and are ruining India's image on the global tourist map," according to the publication.
