Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) announced that it had received intelligence from the US, through established communication channels between the two countries, about preparations for a terrorist attack in Moscow. The agency said Russian authorities were taking appropriate measures in response to the information.
Separately, the US Embassy in Moscow issued a warning that it was aware of a "credible threat of a mass-casualty event" expected to occur Saturday at the Tsaritsyno Museum-Reserve in the southern part of the city. The embassy also said the US government was coordinating its response with Russian authorities.

Following the warning, the Tsaritsyno complex, which includes a palace, museum and sprawling park, was temporarily closed. Russia's RIA news agency, citing law enforcement sources, reported that access to the park had been restricted.
The latest alert comes in the wake of the deadly terrorist attack near Moscow in March 2024. Just days before the attack at Crocus City Hall, the US Embassy had warned that extremists were planning an imminent attack in Moscow. More than 140 people were killed when gunmen attacked the concert venue outside the Russian capital.
