The northern ceasefire, which commenced on November 27 and extended for 60 days until Saturday, included Hezbollah's commitment to withdraw north of the Litani River. In exchange, Israel was expected to complete its withdrawal beyond the Blue Line – the internationally recognized border.

Following the release of four hostages Karina Arayev,Daniella Gilboa, Liri Albag, and Naama Levi, the Prime Minister's Office announced: 'Movement of Gazans from the southern to northern Gaza Strip will not be permitted due to Hamas' violation of the agreement, and until Arbel Yehud is released.'
Brig. Gen. Daniel Hagari, the IDF Spokesperson, issued a statement following the release of four hostages held by Hamas. 'We insist on the urgent return of all civilians and adherence to the agreement,' he said. 'This is our commitment to citizens, to Agam Berger, and to the soldiers of the IDF.'
