The Prime Minister's Office says he reiterated Israel's support for Ukraine and expressed his "deep concern" about the military connection between Iran and Russia.

The development removes one of several obstacles to Israeli support for Ukraine, The New York Times reports quoting senior officials.

In a shift in policy, Jerusalem offers to help Kyiv develop air attack alerts for civilians, but remains firm on not supplying the country with weapons.

The request will be made to Jerusalem amid ongoing Russian aerial bombardments in Ukraine and revelations that Tehran is providing Moscow with suicide drones and other arms.

Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre says the US "strongly condemns Russia's missile strikes" and that the attack "continues to demonstrate Putin's brutality". Analysts believe the slower-moving Shahed drones can be programmed to accurately hit certain targets using GPS unless the system fails.

"Rescuers are on the site," capital's mayor says on the Telegram messaging service, adding that as a result of what he said was a drone attack, a fire also broke out in a non-residential building.

The Russian Defense Ministry says two men opened fire at volunteer soldiers during a target practice session in western Russia, killing 11 of them and wounding 15 others before being killed themselves.

Ukrainian troops reportedly make steady territorial gains along the southern front, including the recapture of 75 settlements in the Kherson region in the last month.

Diplomats say Russia is trying to scare the West into reducing its support for Ukraine by hinting at the use of a tactical nuclear weapon to defend the annexed territories.
