Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office announced the return of Israel’s negotiating team following Hamas’ response to the latest deal proposal, as the IDF prepares to expand ground operations in Gaza.
Among the scenarios being prepared for: a seaborne incursion by the Houthis into Israel. While the vast distance between Israel and Yemen may appear to render such ambitions far-fetched, regional instability provides fertile ground for turning this nightmare scenario into reality.
During a high-level security meeting held at Prime Minister Netanyahu’s office, a military official warned that Israel should remain “suspicious” of the new Syrian regime. He added that it was solely Israel’s actions in Syria that deterred the regime and halted the massacre of the Druze community.
The three ISIS supporters from east Jerusalem wanted to turn Jerusalem checkpoint into a battlefield. The investigation further revealed that one suspect contacted ISIS operatives in Judea and Samaria and Syria with the goal of traveling there for terrorist training.
“The moment the IDF withdraws and a ceasefire takes effect, Hamas will regain control of the Gaza Strip. There is no doubt about that,” a senior Israeli defense official admitted to Israel Hayom. "But it is the only way to release the hostages.”
