The Israeli military confirmed Saturday that one of its drones has crashed in southern Lebanon, citing a technical failure. This was the fourth drone lost by the Israeli military this year.
The IDF stressed there was no risk of any sensitive information being leaked, saying Saturday's incident was being investigated.
Israel typically uses unmanned aerial vehicles to conduct surveillance and gather intelligence along its borders.
The drone was identified by Lebanese media as a Skylark, a tactical surveillance UAV used by Israeli Artillery corps.
According to reports in Lebanon, it landed near the Lebanese village of Ayta ash-Shab and was destroyed by another Israeli drone.
The Al-Manar TV channel, affiliated with the Shiite terrorist group Hezbollah, reported that "an unmanned Israeli spy plane crashes between the villages of Beit Yahoun and Baraachit."
Israel and Lebanon's Hezbollah last fought a war in 2006. Israeli and U.S. officials say Iran is helping the terrorist group build facilities to manufacture precision-guided missiles or refit its longer-range missiles with precision guidance systems.
In February, Israel shot down an Iranian drone that breached its airspace over the Israel-Syria border. The incident also saw Syrian air defenses down an Israeli fighter jet.
