Photos surface of Britain's Corbyn at memorial for Munich terrorists

The Daily Mail on Friday published photos of Britain's Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn taking part in a memorial ceremony for the Palestinian terrorists who murdered 11 Israelis at the 1972 Munich Olympic Games.

The Daily Maily first reported on Corbyn's attendance at the 2014 ceremony in May. At the ceremony, Corbyn laid a wreath at the grave of one of the terrorists involved in the attack and later wrote about the ceremony in a column for the British communist newspaper Morning Star. Titled "Palestine United," the column called the service "poignant."

Jennifer Gerber, the director of Labour Friends of Israel, said, "It beggars belief that anyone would wish to honor the terrorists behind the brutal massacre of 11 Israeli athletes at Munich."

"However, it is sadly utterly unsurprising that Jeremy Corbyn appears to have done so. Others will rightly regard it is as totally sickening."

Corbyn's allies have insisted Corbyn was attending a memorial ceremony for Palestinians killed in an Israeli airstrike in the country in 1985. But in its Friday report, the Daily Mail noted that the monument for those who died in the strike is situated some 15 yards from the site where Corbyn was photographed and in an entirely separate section of the cemetery. In the photos, Corbyn can be seen standing in front of a plaque near the graves of three terrorists involved in the attacks.

The murder of the Israeli athletes by Palestinian terrorists in Munich is engraved in Israel's national memory. The attack began early on Sept. 5, 1972, when eight Black September terrorists entered the Olympic Village and broke into the apartments where the Israeli athletes were sleeping. Two of the Israelis were killed during the hostage-taking, and nine others were taken hostage and killed 20 hours later during a failed rescue attempt.
