The air force attacked a Hamas lookout post in the southern Gaza Strip overnight Saturday in response to numerous incidents along the border fence in which Palestinian rioters hurled explosive devices at IDF soldiers.
On Saturday evening, IAF aircraft separately targeted two terrorist cells attempting to launch balloons with explosive devices attached. According to Palestinian reports, three people were wounded in the strikes.
Next week will mark one year since the beginning of the Hamas-orchestrated March of Return border demonstrations along the Gaza security fence.
On Friday, meanwhile, Gaza's Health Ministry said two Palestinians were killed by IDF gunfire while protesting near the border.
The ministry said that those killed were 18 and 29 years old, without elaborating. It added that 55 protesters were wounded.
Thousands attended the protests, including Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh.
Haniyeh said that the protesters "insist on breaking" a blockade that Israel and Egypt imposed to isolate Hamas since it seized the coastal enclave in 2007.
According to the IDF, some 9,500 people took part in the protests, which included stones and other heated items being thrown at troops and tire burnings.
