Three Israel Police officers and 15 civilians were injured Sunday during clashes in the Samaria community of Yitzhar.

The clashes erupted after a large contingent of police and Border Police forces surrounded the home of Yitzhar resident Neriah Zarog and sought to execute a warrant to remove him from the premises.

The IDF issued an administrative restraining order barring Zarog from Yitzhar for three months citing security reasons, but Zarog refused to leave his home.

The military at times issues administrative restraining orders against settlers who are believed to be radicals, as it says they pose a threat to public order in the region.

Local residents accused the police of damaging several walls in Zarog's home after they encountered makeshift barricades that prevented them from entering it.

Several hundred locals gathered near Zarog's house to protest the police's actions and clashes soon erupted between the demonstrators and police.

Protesters claim that the officers beat Zarog while attempting to arrest him, saying they smashed his glasses. The police said the protesters hurled rocks and paint cans at officers in an attempt to prevent them from executing the warrant.

The Prime Minister's Office issued a statement saying that "Netanyahu calls for the law to be respected and for an immediate halt to violence against the security forces. IDF soldiers and Border Police forces, which guard us all, must be allowed to carry out their work. Any violation of the law will not be tolerated."
