Palestinians in the city of Nablus in the West Bank burned an effigy of US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo last week in protest of his visit to Israel on Wednesday and against the Trump administration's Mideast peace plan, the Middle East Media Research Institute said Sunday.
MEMRI's report included a video of the incident, broadcast by UK-based daily Al-Araby al-Jadeed's website.

In footage broadcast by the UK-based Al-Araby Al-Jadeed news site, a small group of people watched as a man poured a flammable liquid on the cutout of Pompeo, before another lit it on fire.
The cutout also had a black "X" over Pompeo's mouth and a shoe was tied around his neck as a sign of disrespect.
The video further shows that before the effigy was set on fire, a metal chain was also placed around Pompeo's neck.
Over the weekend, the Palestinian Authority's official daily, Al-Hayat al-Jadida, ran an editorial piece saying the "Palestinians would remain in conflict with Israel for hundreds of years to liberate every part of Palestine."
