A cold shoulder from Saudi Arabia: The kingdom's Foreign Ministry on Thursday said it "rejects what was published about Israeli plans and steps to annex areas in the West Bank and apply Israeli sovereignty there."
The coalition agreement for the creation of the national unity government stipulates that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will be given the opportunity this summer to bring the sovereignty issue to a vote before the Knesset, in accordance with American agreement. The agreement also says the government will endeavor to weigh strategic and security considerations and uphold peace treaties with Arab countries.

The Saudi Foreign Ministry, which was quoted by the Saudi-based Al Arabiya news site, stressed the Kingdom's "condemnation of any unilateral measures, and of any violations of United Nations Security Council resolutions, and of all that might undermine the chances of resuming the peace process to achieve security and stability in the region."
The statement reaffirmed the "Kingdom's steadfast stance toward the brotherly Palestinian people, and support for its choices, and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, with east Jerusalem as its capital."
