Iran has issued an arrest warrant for US President Donald Trump and 35 others over the killing of Quds Force Commander Qassem Soleimani in Baghdad in January and has asked Interpol for help, Tehran prosecutor Ali Alqasimehr said on Monday.
The United States and Interpol both dismissed the idea of acting on such a warrant. US Iran envoy Brian Hook said the warrant was a "propaganda stunt that no one takes seriously and makes the Iranians look foolish."

The fact that Interpol will not consider Iran's request means Trump faces no danger of arrest. However, the charges underscore the heightened tensions between Iran and the United States since Trump unilaterally withdrew from the 2015 nuclear deal signed between Iran and world powers.
Alqasimehr said Trump and the others named in the warrant face "murder and terrorism charges." He did not identify anyone else sought other than Trump but stressed that Iran would continue to pursue his prosecution even after his presidency end.
