The Palestinian Authority decided to reimpose a comprehensive lockdown Wednesday on all West Bank territories in its jurisdiction due to a recent spike in coronavirus cases.
The lockdown will go into effect Friday morning and will last five days, PA government spokesman Ibrahim Melhem said in a statement.

All businesses are set to be shuttered except for pharmacies, grocery stores, and bakeries, the statement added.
Over the past 24 hours, the PA detected 280 COVID-19 infections in its territories, according to Hebrew-language outlet Walla News.

Since the start of the pandemic, only 11 Palestinians have died of the virus, but three of those occurred over the past day, Walla News reported.
In total, the Palestinians diagnosed 3,045 positive cases while 82% of the 1,620 active cases were identified in Hebron.
In the Gaza Strip, in contrast, only 14 coronavirus cases were detected since the outbreak of the global pandemic.
