Finance Ministry Accountant General Rony Hizkiyahu on Sunday announced plans to resign by October at the latest . Shocking the financial system, Hizkiyahu said his resignation will take effect regardless of whether the government is able to pass the state budget.
Hizkiyahu stated that he will be stepping down due to the "feeling I have gone as far as I can in the position and also the desire to open the way for new officeholders."
Under Israeli, a new government has 100 days to pass a state budget or parliament is dissolved and elections are called. The 2021 budget is due in August.
