The High Holy Days this year will look nothing like before due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Various local authorities have already announced special measures that will serve as a balancing act: allowing the various religious services and festivities, but revamping them entirely to ensure social distancing and other preventive steps are taken to avoid super-spreader events.

The Tel Aviv municipality has already devised a plan with the local religious council to demarcate large outdoor prayer areas next to synagogues. The city will provide the necessary logistics, such as chairs and portable generators, with religious authorities offering special courses to allow congregation leaders to properly adapt.
Jerusalem will allow services to take place in parks, schools and various open spaces, in addition to synagogues, which will have special outdoor areas for additional congregants. "We will do everything we can to help the residents of the city celebrate the High Holy Days safely," Moshe Lion has said.
Ramat Gan will provide more than a hundred cooling units to help synagogues cope with the heat, as well as hundreds of lighting devices and tents, as well as thousand of chairs.
