The Finance Ministry and Environmental Protection Ministry are asking that disposable plastic plates and utensils be banned from ministry offices.
On Tuesday, the Government Procurement Administration in the Accountant General's Office, with backing from the Environmental Protection Ministry, put out an appeal asking for information about options that cause less harm to the environment.
Data shows that in 2018, the Israeli public used some 60,000 tons of disposable utensils and plates, and the government spent at least 5 million shekels ($1.47 million) on them.
