Israel's annual flu shot campaign will soon begin, and the government has purchased a record 4 million shots, nearly double the 2.2 million it purchased in 2019.
Given the unchecked spread of coronavirus, the health care system in Israel is preparing for a particularly challenging winter flu season that could stress the capacity of clinics and hospitals. There could also be trouble distinguishing between the flu and COVID.
Health Ministry Director-General Professor Hezi Levy said that the groups prioritized for flu shots would be patients with chronic illnesses, medical workers, and children up to age 12.
