The second lockdown is already taking a toll on the economy as the number of unemployed Israelis has exceeded 900,000, Employment Service said Wednesday.
Since Sept. 17, a day before a full nationwide lockdown took effect in Israel, 178,020 additional Israelis have applied for unemployment benefits, bringing jobless numbers to 909,460.

Employment Service showed that 63% of the unemployed were put on unpaid leave by their employers.
Unemployment rate in Israel currently stands at 21.7%, compared with a peak of 27.5% April.
