Israel Hayom's English-language Twitter account, @IsraelHayomEng, was hacked on Monday for several hours, at around 10.30 a.m. (local time), forcing the social media company to intervene.
By the evening, the news desk regained access to the account and has resumed tweeting.
"After apparently being hacked this morning, we are now back in control of our account. We would like to thank our followers for their patience and extend our gratitude to @Twitter for helping us resolve this matter," Israel Hayom said in a tweet.
The hacker had blocked the news desk's access to the account and has tweeted several untrue posts, including a false status update about the health of US President Donald Trump.
