The Lebanon-based terrorist group Hezbollah on Friday denounced a recently filed indictment against outgoing Lebanese Prime Minister Hassan Diab and three former ministers over the devastating explosion at the port of Beirut in August.

The Iranian-backed Shiite group called on Judge Fadi Sawan to reconsider his ruling, saying it "lacked legal and constitutional grounds" and that the four people concerned had been charged "selectively" via "political targeting."
Lebanon's Finance Ali Hassan Khalil, as well as Ghazi Zaayter and Youssef Fenianos, who both headed the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, are also facing indictments stemming from the blast.
"The prime minister's conscience is clear," a statement from the prime minister's office reads.
"He is confident that his hands are clean and that he has handled the Beirut Port blast file in a responsible and transparent manner. Hassan Diab will not allow the Premiership to be targeted by any party."
