The right-wing watchdog Im Tirtzu launched a new ad campaign ahead of the High Court of Justice's hearing on the controversial nation-state law that enshrines Israel's Jewish character into its de facto constitution.
"The new Im Tirtzu campaign includes a large billboard on Tel-Aviv's Ayalon Highway calling to balance the High Court, " the organization said in a statement, noting the special website it set up that would inform Israelis on its various decisions.
The goal of the campaign, the watchdog said, is to generate public discourse surrounding the "problematic conduct of the High Court's judicial activism, which manifests via the striking down of laws and its intervention in government decisions on policy, security and social matters."
The petition challenging the law on grounds of alleged discrimination will be discussed in a hearing that will be live streamed by the court due to the coronavirus pandemic.
