An appeals panel at the University of London sided with a student and called for a probe into allegations of institutionalized anti-Semitism on campus, Algemeiner reported Tuesday.

The appeal was filed by School of Oriental and African Studies student Noah Lewis, who said his previous victory against SOAS did not address the toxic environment that Jewish students were dealing with.
According to the report, the grievances reportedly cited by Lewis include the Student Union frequently reiterating its support for the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions movement and various offenses aimed at Jewish students and Israel.
The student's own dissertation proposal subject matter – the UN's less-than-objective approach to Israel – earned him attacks from other students, some of whom declared him a "Nazi."
The report also cites testimonies from other Jewish students of SOAS, who said they did not feel too welcome in the school and said that the campus's view on Israel was "radically oppressive."

After facing anti-Semitic displays, lewis demanded a refund of his tuition fees and other expenses, and the school reached a settlement worth almost $20,500 with him.
