In attempts to enforce restrictions on gatherings and movement designed to check the spread of coronavirus, the Israel Police issued 9,146 fines over the weekend for various violations of the regulations.
Most of the fines (6,933) were handed out to Israelis caught leaving their homes for activities banned under the lockdown restrictions. These included 1,516 fines for failure to wear masks in public; 106 fines for violations of mandatory quarantine; and 428 fines to people caught in public places where banned activities were taking place.

The owner of a Tel Aviv restaurant that opened against regulations and where the staff were not wearing masks was handed a 5,000-shekel fine ($1,556) and the restaurant was ordered closed for seven days under an administrative order.
