The upcoming Passover holiday and the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic have resulted in a sharp increase in the number of requests for food assistance among Israelis.
According to the NGO, which was founded by Israel Prize laureate Yitzchak Dovid Grossman, the scope of requests has increased twofold compared to the previous period in 2020.

This appears to show an ongoing trend that has not ebbed since Rosh Hashana back in the fall when Israel Hayom reported a 300% increase in such requests.
"The pandemic has hit Israelis very hard," Grossman told Israel Hayom. "There are many people who had a job and could honorably make ends meet, and now their livelihood is gone. The heavy price is being paid by the children; an entire generation of children have lost their childhood. If we neglect the young this could lead to catastrophe down the road."
Israel is now emerging from the coronavirus pandemic thanks to a successful vaccination drive, but the lockdown has yet to be fully lifted, forcing many employers to shut down operations and potentially terminate workers.
