Arab media reported Thursday that an Israeli-owned ship MV LORI was hit while navigating the Arabian Sea.

If confirmed, this would be the second such incidents in as many months, coming just weeks after an Israeli vessel – the MV Helios Ray – was attacked near Oman in what Israeli officials said was an Iranian-provoked incident.

Some reports have claimed that this latest attack was also perpetrated by Iran, but this has not been confirmed.

The attack in February did not result in significant damage, and Iran denied is involvement, but state media in Tehran have hinted that this was in retaliation to alleged Israeli action. In recent weeks, Western media has reported that Israle has repeatedly targeted Iranian vessels in order to prevent illicit shipments of oil and arms.

The Israeli shipping company Zim said that the ship was sailing under the flag of a Scandinavian country and that it was hit by several missiles. However, it sustained only minimal damage. It was on its way from Tanzania to India and is expected to continue its voyage.
