The IDF on Sunday launched the longest and largest exercise in its history. The month-long "Chariots of Fire" war games will explore combat and emergency scenarios in all sectors. Chief of Staff Lt. Ge. Aviv Kohavi decided to hold the exercise as scheduled, despite the security escalation in Jerusalem and subsequent tensions on the Gaza and Lebanon borders.

Regular and reserve troops from all corps will take part in "Chariots of Fire," including the Air Force and Navy, as will various units in the Defense Ministry, National Emergency Authority, the Foreign Ministry, and other security bodies will participate.
The Home Front Command and various civilian bodies will also be called upon.
The troops will also practice urban warfare, and will hold manuvers overseas, to simulatre operating behind enemy lines.
