One of the most prominent directors in Argentina, Javo Rocha, made aliyah last March so that he could fulfill one dream: join the Israeli theater world and contribute from his vast experience.
A 28-year veteran in the field, the 45-year-old Rocha decided a year ago to join his two brothers who had already moved to Israel many years before. Upon arriving, he began studying Hebrew and teaching theater to Spanish speakers at Instituto Cervantes Tel Aviv, among other engagements.

"My goal is to fit in with the rest of the industry," he told Israel Hayom. "I want to expand the lessons I teach so that they include any city in Israel," he continued, adding that he is looking for an interpreter to help him teach those who do not speak Spanish.
"I would love to make inroads so that I can meet people of my trade and possibly even partake in Hebrew productions because I am very keen on being on stage even as I continue being a director," he stressed.
Rocha said that due to the pandemic, his work came to a halt in his home country, despite some activity moving to Zoom. "But at some point, I felt that my aspirations were not what they used to be. My parents passed away recently, and all of my family is here. I had been captivated by aliyah for many years and fell in love with Israel due to my visits here," he added.
He eventually made aliyah with the help of the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews and the Jewish Agency for Israel.
